BIOGRAPHY

Desmond Woodforde is a storyteller through and through. Born in Indulkana community in 1974, Desmond holds a lot of knowledge for the far eastern extents of the APY Lands. He likes to describe his creativity as a vibrant well inside of him that expresses itself through many media. A talented singer and musician, Desmond has long been known for his role as the lead singer of the Moon Band, creating vibrant desert reggae that can be heard throughout Mimili community on many afternoons.

Desmond also worked as a radio presenter for PY Media, and is passionate about creating new formats of storytelling in his art. He only recently started painting at Mimili Maku Arts and is an exciting new voice in the art centre, with a wealth of knowledge and creativity.
